Sweet Potato

Sweet potatoes pack a powerful nutritional punch. In one medium spud, there is over 400 percent of your daily vitamin A requirement.

Sweet potatoes also contain high amounts of fiber and potassium. They have more grams of natural sugars than regular potato but more overall nutrients with fewer calories. As well as all this they help maintain a healthy blood pressure and protect against cancer. Try to include them on your diet whether mashed, baked or boiled and then cold in salads to liven up your lunch!

Taste Sensation & Gadget Focus

Instead of a recipe this month I’m going to share a taste sensation and gadget that may just add some real interest to your mealtimes along with stacks of vitamins and it’s really pretty and colourful! What’s not to like I hear you say....

This brilliant gadget (I got from one of my clients who loves to cook ... how kind of her!) has really added a lot to my mealtimes. It simply, easily and quickly shreds red and white cabbage, carrots, apple, cucumber and more into an amazing fresh coleslaw! This one pictured is simply red cabbage with carrot and I made a simple dressing of wine or cider vinegar with some very good olive oil and Dijon mustard.

Now the Summer months are here we tend to eat more salads and cold accompaniments especially as the weather is heating up (HURRAY!) so this will hopefully contribute to making your meal times more delicious and a simple way to get the goodness we need to stay healthy and strong and vitamin fueled.

Get the gadget on line and give it a whirl and share your photos on Facebook or Instagram and don’t forget to tag us in @GWTPBath

Remember folks YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT :)

Shake'd' Up with Purition

Steph Disclaimer: Just to say, I’m not paid to endorse any products and I never have. This blurb and information is therefore impartial and is of personal use.

However, my recipe of the month is one with a difference, you get a little secret and you will be glad I shared it. Some of my PT clients (perhaps this is you) have tried it, but for those that haven’t used Purition, it is simply delicious and has some great qualities to offer.

I add all sorts to mine, but here is my Post Bootcamp Workout Breakfast Mix:

THE GWTP Breakie Shake Up with Purition

  • Coconut milk - approximately 250ml

  • 8-10  Raspberries

  • 4 x Brazil nuts

  • 1 x Banana

  • 4 x scoops of Purition coconut powder

Instruction: So Easy - chuck it all in my Bullet Blender and press ‘Go’. It get’s whizzed up and then get to enjoy a tantilising, delicious and mouth watering shake, everything your taste buds and body needs.

Info on Purition

Purition is a whole food alternative to protein shakes or meal replacement drinks. It has a high protein and low carbohydrate balance, which is great for healthy nutrition plans and won’t leave you feeling hungry!

Completely natural ingredients providing fibre, vitamins, minerals and healthy wholefood fats your body needs and are essential for optimal health.

This coconut flavour has less than 1.1g of sugar in a serving and only 4g of carbs. The lower sugar and carbs, is fantastic when compared to most others protein shakes, and therefore makes it an excellent choice.

It is yummy and I generally use it post workout, as my breakfast, especially if I’m on the go and have a lot to get through. But, it is also a fantastic meal replacement option and by adding a variety of other ingredients, such as spinach, nuts, fruit and other protein packed extras, it is easy to change the taste, create a mixture of delightful shakes and make a super tasty meal, full of all the right stuff.

Check out their website (click here) and all the flavours they can offer, you can even test them out and sample a trial box.
